Centro Taigum is a national shopping centre located in Taigum, a suburb of Brisbane in the state of Queensland, Australia. Owned by Centro Properties Group, the centre is located on Beams Road, providing access via Gympie and Sandgate Roads. It is anchored by Woolworths, Big W, Homeart and Best & Less, and incorporates 65 stores on the premises.[1]
Centro Taigum was first opened to the public in 1982 as the "Taigum Central Shopping Centre". In 2001, Centro Properties Group undertook a major redevelopment of the centre, spending $70 million[2] to incorporate the Big W and Best & Less stores, as well as increasing the number of specialty stores on the site. The new centre was opened to the public on 29 October 2001.[2] The renaming from Taigum Central to Centro Taigum occurred two years later, in July 2003. Centro Taigum was one of the first of Centro's centres to be renamed as part of a rebranding exercise. [3]
After being the runner-up for the sub-regionalnational category in the 2003 Queensland Shopping Centre Awards,[4] Centro Taigum went on to win the category in 2004.[5]
